I just wanted to know something...

I have a PC now at the house I am currently living in and i wanted to know if the internet provider I have (RCN) will charge me for pluging in a game system and using the Ethernet cable to play online games for PS3?

Also, is playing on a wired connection as simple as pluging it in and plaYING? Or do I have to go through some settings on my pc or ps3 to connect?
